Astronomers at the Garching-based European Southern Observatory (ESO) claim to have witnessed the three-dimentional explosion of the core of a giant supernova for the very first time in history.
Their findings allegedly showed how the 1987-A supernova explodes and send its matter in all directions at an estimated speed of some 100-million kph.
They were said to have estimated that it takes the dying supernova’s matter at least 10 years before the gases and dust form a ring around the core.
