Third most wanted Nazi war criminal finally caught
Friday, July 30th, 2010Nazi Germany war crime hunting organization, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s third most wanted war criminal has finally been arrested after more than 60 years after committing his crimes. Samuel Kunz (88) – pictured – was arrested for allegedly participating in the murder of some of 430,000 Jews at the Belzec Nazi death camp in Poland between 1942-1943.
He has personally been charged for shooting 10 people at the concentration camp, when he was 20-years-old. Although Kunz denies the killings the Simon Wiesenthal Center says it has substantial evidence of his actions, which is currently being reviewed by a panel of five judges.
Kunz’s name emerged several times, the last time it came to the surface during the trial of Nazi war crimes suspect John Demjanjuk (90), who is charged with involvement in the murder of some 28,000 people at the Sobibor Nazi death camp. It is believed that both accused men were originally Russian soldiers before they were captured and turned into camp guards.
