Biggest infanticide unveiled in France

Police in Northern France have reportedly charged Dominique Cottrez (46) with the murder of 8 newborn infants. Police were alerted by a person who found the dead corpses of two infants in plastic bags while digging in his garden.
It turns out that the property formerly belonged to Cottrez’s late parents. Cottrez, a nurse, confessed to her terrible act after she was arrested in her dormant commuter village Villers-au Tertre, near the city of Lille. As she confessed investigators recovered the heavily decomposed corpses of her babies and placed her under arrest.
Her husband, a carpenter, was released without charges shorty after police apprehended the couple, as he reportedly did not know of her crimes. Allegedly the woman was forced into her pregnancies by her husband, as the couple did not use contraceptives.
Cottrez claims her first pregnancy was an unwanted and terrible experience. Nevertheless she reportedly gave birth on 10 occasion in total. The couple have two living children (aged 21 and 22). The mother first confessed to the killing of only two new-borns, but later broke down and admitted there had been six more, which police found hidden in a plastic bags in a garage.
In her confusion Cottrez was unable to give the exact dates of her nativities, and police are unsure about how and when the infants had died. Otherwise they believe that the dead corpses were suffocated some time between 1989 and 2007.
While her crimes are punishable under European Union laws, it is unclear whether she will be held responsible for her actions as criminal psychologist are now assessing her mental responsibility. Police believe that her story will go down in history as France’s biggest ever infanticide case. Despite having major wealth and readily available contraceptives, The French are believed to have one of the world’s highest statistics of murdered newborn babies.
The French population have practically become immune to the news after a similar case revealed in Oct 2007, where the mother – Celine Lesage (38) – was sentenced to 15 prison in 2010 for murdering her six newborn babies. Earlier another mother – Veronique Courjault (42) – was charged with killing her three newborn babies between 1999-2003.
She has two living sons (aged 15 and 13). Morbidly Courjault had reportedly placed the corpses of her murdered infants into the family deep-freezer, believing only she would be using it as a housewife. How’s that for baby-food? (-sic-). Neither of the mothers could explain the reasons for their horrible actions.
