British reporter behind 2010 FIFA security breach, police say
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
The South African Police Service (SAPS) claim that a British journalist Simon Wright (44) was allegedly arrested for being the master-mind behind the recent attempt to portray blemished World Cup stadium security in South Africa after the England-Algeria match at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, during their group stage match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Reports said that a presumed England fan called Pavlos Joseph, had “accidentally” entered the England changing room while he had allegedly looked for the men’s toilet and had been “misdirected” by one of the security personnel to the England change room. Joseph was allegedly apprehended and questioned for reasons of arguing with David Beckham (whatever the “injured” Beckham was doing in the dress room nobody knows).
Joseph’s visit was allegedly just minutes after the British princes Harry and William had expressed their condolences for the crap performance of the England team against Algeria that ended in the 0-0 draw. the entire affair had been downplayed by the England officials and the media were told that the weak-bladder fan had accidentally missed the room number at the stadium.
Joseph and Wright had both allegedly appeared before the special World Cup Court in Cape Town. They were allows to defend themselves after a bail was paid. SAPS officials believe that the Cape Town incident was merely one of many attempts to undermine security in South Africa. the trial continues as police investigate further, SAPS said.British journalist had allegedly made all kinds of negative statements and filed mocking reports on 2010 World Cup safety and security long before the initial kick-off took place on June 11, 2010
