Hungarian-Mongolian Cooperation Underway

Hungarian and Mongolian governmental talks are underway concerning economic cooperation and development between the two countries, according to Hungarian Prime Minister Gordan Bajnai.
He made the announcement at a recent press conference in the Hungarian capital after formal talks with his Mongolian counterpart Batbold Sukhbaatar.
The Mongolian PM’s visit comes on the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the two nations. According to historical theories Hungarians originated from beyond the Ural Mountains, next to current day Mongolia. Former Hungarian Finance Minister and National bank Governor zsigmond Jarai, started his economic career as a banker in Mongolia.
Historically this is also the Mongolian MP’s first foreign visit since his appointment in the end of 2009. “My visit to Hungary is extremely important for the Mongolian people,” he told journalists at the press conference. “Mongolia wants to build strong ties with Hungary and the rest of the European Union.” He explained that already in 2005 Mongolia had set up its ‘Mongolian Trade and Information Centre’ in Budapest.
Hungary wishes to boost its economy by developing a major transport corridor for Asian goods coming to the EU, via its Ukrainian border post called Zahony. The government is subsidizing a major regional service and logistics centre, dubbed the Zahony Logistics Centre.
