No Sleepless nights for Hungary over 2010 Football Cup
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010
Despite the fact Hungary was unsuccessful in qualifying for the 2010 football World Cup its football federation will have no sleepless nights, unlike England. The news came as a nightmare for England, after they learned that their luxury training camp is nowhere near complete despite the fact that the World Cup games in the Republic of South Africa is merely 107 days away.
Already the host nation’s media is mocking organisers who will have some explaining to do to England’s football coach Fabio Capello when he arrives at a nearby Casino resort for a two-day 2010 FIFA World Cup coaches conference.
England was appointed the so-called ‘Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex’ near Rustenburg, in the northern part of South Africa. Local media reports claim Capello had actually selected the site for his base, lured by the promises of a luxury hotel, two training fields, a clubhouse and a heated olympic size swimming pool.
However, with the excavations of red sand resembles nothing more than the ground works of a desolated or isolated base station on Mars.
Yet the English Football association seems optimistic, saying that ”as far as they are aware, the project is on time and will all be completed before the team arrives on June 3, 2010.”
SHOCK FOR SA HOME TEAM
South Africa’s own national squad, dubbed ‘Bafana Bafana’ (the boys) have expressed their anger, as they are facing a similar ordeal as their British peers, despite the fact they are playing at home.
The Bafana Bafana sports camp is also not ready yet. News reports said that Bafana had to move from its Esselen Park base camp at in Kempton Park, Johannesburg because “the complex is badly run down and is in need of renovations totalling ZAR 16-mil.”
While Bafana Bafana has said that it will be using the lower standard facilities of a rugby field at Johannesburg’s Sandown High School for its training purposes, the school’s principal claims he has not received any such requests.
