Black Magic For 2010 World Cup African Teams?

Muti-killings are not uncommon in South Africa, the host country for the 2010 Football World Cup. Abducted adults and children’s organs are sold to on the black market to illegally practicing witchdoctors, also known as ‘Muti’. Traditional bantu healing and black magic is still a common practice today, despite the widespread of scientifically proven produced medicine.

The Muti have a potion (brewed from God knows what) for almost anything and the World Cup is no exception, according to South African news reports. Had Diego Maradona used the services of a Muti in 1994, perhaps he would have passed his drug tests undetected. Yet FIFA officials claim they are “not worried” about football teams “using the services” of the Muti during the World Cup tournament hosted by South Africa.

At the ‘Third International Football Medicine Conference’ recently held in South Africa, FIFA officials told reporters that African may consult witch doctors. More than 300 sports medical professionals or the World Cup’s 32 participating nations, attended the weekend-long conference, seminars and workshops the host nation’s casino paradise, Sun City – sometimes also dubbed ‘Sin City.’

It may be a sin, but while banned substances can be detected by the anti-doping officials, Muti doctors’ performance enhancing brews and substances may pass with flying colours, according to a European medic, who asked not to be named. He added, “Traditional healers can produce performance enhancers that Europeans can’t even imagine.”

In African culture it is common to consult with the Muti before major challenges. Nevertheless FIFA is convinced nothing will go wrong during the games with or without witch doctors. Dr Michel D’Hooghe Chairman of FIFA’s Medical Committee said, “We are not too concerned about the use of traditional African medicines during the World Cup.” Yet the concern is there as FIFA will be working closely with the  World Anti-Doping Agency to ensure that if any Muti magic is practiced then it should only be in the form of spiritual “addiction.”

Experts at the conference revealed that during the entire football championship process at least 256 random drug test will be made. “All participating nations have signed an agreement to combat doping,”said Dr D’Hooghe.
